SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER DRIVE FOR HFTFN: We will start collecting shampoo and conditioner for Hope for the First Nations THIS weekend.

MEMBERSHIP CLASSES are scheduled for THIS Saturday, May 19 from 9 am to 12 noon, and Tuesday, May 22 from 6:30 pm to 9 pm.  If you'd like to register, reply to this email.  Daycare is not provided, but we will feed you. smile

LEAP TOAST BAR in the Leap Lounge this Sunday (May 20) for the 18-30 set!  YEAH TOAST!

HOPE ANGELS RIDE: Scheduled for Sunday, May 20 to the historic Bishop Hill northwest of Peoria.  We will meet at 8:45 am and leave promptly at 9 am, from the Apollo Mart gas station located 2.5 miles north of the airport at the corner of Route 29 and Andrew Rd.  Please let us know if you'll be joining us:  Gary and Laura Clark, gclark@dtnspeed.net.

WELCOME TO HOPE LUNCH:  If you're new to Hope, we'd love to have you over for lunch!  Sunday, June 3 following second service, join us in the multi-purpose room for lunch and meet some Hope regulars and staff.  It's only about an hour.  Whole family is welcome!  You can register by replying to this email or signing up at the information desk.

MORNING EDITION:  Ladies, if you are available Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:15 am, our morning edition gals will be kicking off a summer 6-week study Thursday, June 7.  It's a study by Priscilla Shirer called Seeds, and each lesson stands alone, so even if you'll be gone a week or two, it will still be rich and you won't miss anything!  You can register in the lobby this weekend, or reply to this email.  Childcare will be available.  Books are $15.

WOMENS BOOK CLUB:  Our next meeting will be June 7 at Mindy's house, if you'd like to join us to discuss a good read!  June's book is The Weird Sisters, by Eleanor Brown.  If you'd like to join us, contact Jenn at jennifers@imcosupply.com for information and directions!

MENS BREAKFAST:  There will be a men's breakfast on Saturday morning, June 16, the day before Father's Day, in the multi-purpose room. Breakfast will start at 8:00 and last til 9:30 am. You can count on good food, good fellowship, and a sneak peek at where the MEN OF HOPE will be heading during the next few months. To help us plan for enough food, there is a sign-up sheet in the lobby after services. Men's Ministry now has a Facebook page. ASL CLASSES:  An 8-week ASL course will be offered beginning Sunday, June 17 at 9 am in the library with Dana Baldiviez, a deaf woman interning here in Springfield for the summer.  If you would like to beef up your ASL skills, please join us!  Only cost is for the book.  Register by responding to this email or signing up in the lobby during the month of June.

CARDINAL BASEBALL GAME: Trip hosted by Hope Adult Singles, but open to everyone!  It's Christian Day at the Ballpark, Saturday, June 30.  We will leave the church parking lot at 9:30 am.  Cost for trip is $40, and this will cover your ticket to the baseball game and the bus ride there and back.  To keep our bus reservation, all monies need to be turned into Teresita by May 30.  You can turn them into her at box #430 or personally at our adult singles meeting May 19th.  We need 35 folks to keep our bus reservation, so invite some friends! smile  Contact Teresita at tere.gonzalez19622@gmail.com with questions.

CHARLIE BRITTIN MEMORIAL OPEN FOR LHCC:  Golf Open that benefits Living Hope Counseling Center to be held Saturday, July 14 at Piper Glen Golf Club.  Registration is $100 per golfer, and deadline for registration is July 11.  To register, go to http://www.livinghopecounselingcenter.org or call 698-7150.

LEADERSHIP SUMMIT:  Time to register early-birds!  This year's Summit is August 9-10.  Get it on your schedule and get registered!  Go to our website http://www.hope-church.ws and click on the banner and it will take you automatically to registration.
SERVING OPPORTUNITIES

HAITI TRIP: Due to issues related to schedule conflicts, the October trip to Haiti will need to be postponed until early 2013.  Please be watching for future announcements and if you have questions do not hesitate to contact Bob Lackie (971-8641).
HAITI CHILD SPONSORSHIP begins May 19th this year. Stop by the booth in the lobby today and pick out your child! You will enable a child to go to school at our Beaumont Sister Church's school for the 2012-13 school year. We are signing sponsors up this May and June so we can get the funds to them in time for the start of school! The cost is $300 if you sign up before June 30th and $336 if later. There is now a Monthly Sponsorship Payment Plan of $28/month  in place if that works better for your budget. Please stop by or write Nancy Rice at taxifor3@gmail.com!

ART FOR HFTFN:  Art with Love is hosting a donations only BINGO Night and silent auction for original art pieces on Saturday, May 19th at 7:00 p.m. in Hope Church's gymnasium.  We will also be collecting small children's toys for an upcoming mission trip.  All proceeds benefit Hope for the First Nations. NEED HELP NEXT THURSDAY:  On Thursday, May 24, from 12 noon to 2 pm, Hope will host a Sundae Bar at the Hazel Dell's annual year-end picnic.  We will need contributions of toppings and we'll need volunteers (lots!) to assist!  If you would like to serve in either of these spots, please contact Carrie at carriewatson03@gmail.com.  (It's a tasty job, but someone has to do it!)

SERVING AT CONTACT THIS SUMMER:   Amy will be at Contact this summer on Mondays (9:30-11:30 am) and  between 9-12 noon on Wednesdays.  If you are interested in helping out on other days, we will need babysitters on M-TH from 9-10:30 & 10:30-12 (while the mom's are in classes or working in the store) Email her if you'd like to join her!  amy@theclosetguyinc.com

AUDIO MINISTRY: If you have benefitted from Hope’s audio ministry, are an organized, detailed person who also happens to get along well with technology – we could use your help!  We need someone who can be regularly available to duplicate CDs for Hope attendees when they request copies of past messages and series.  This also includes cataloguing and organizing past CDs so they are easily found and accessible.  If you’d like more information, contact Rachel Eastvold (reastvold@hope-church.ws)

MATHARE CHILD SPONSORSHIP is $35 per month to pay for school fees, uniform, supplies, and one-third helps fund the feeding program to insure that the child receives two nutritional meals per day.  Child sponsorship has a long-term impact on the faith, education and economics of entire families and communities.  Everyone is lifted up by the Hope that comes through child sponsorship.  And we haven’t even mentioned the reward it will be to you! SJWUM Annual Neighborhood Picnic scheduled Saturday, June 23 from 11 to 3:30 pm at the ALW Center, 2027 S Grand Ave.  If you would like to serve or provide a booth for this event, contact Sam at 494-1407.

MOMS HELPING MOMS SALE EVENT:  Moms, start saving those outgrown clothes and toys for the Moms Sale coming up June 30.  We will have drop-offs of goodies June 16 and June 23.  All proceeds to benefit Harvestland!  If you would like to help with the sale, contact Laura at rlkmw@sbcglobal.net

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?  We are planning a block party this summer at Hope to serve the neighborhoods that surround us: Centennial, Deerfield and Oak Park.  If you live in one of these neighborhoods, we need you!  Please respond to this email and let Beth know if you call one of these neighborhoods home!

TWO FREE COUNSELING SESSIONS for anyone impacted by a poor marriage and/or divorce.  Follow up from the FIT TO BE TIED sermon series last month.  Call Living Hope Counseling Center at 698-7150 x10 or ask for Judy, the receptionist and she will set you up with a confidential initial session with a professional Christian counselor.  Offer ends June 1, 2012.

RIDES TO CHURCH:  If you or someone you know needs a ride to church, contact Brent Baird at 629-9798 on Saturday night before 8 pm.
