When I was a child I grew up in the Luthern Church. It was fun and my friends were there. I went to communion and confirmation classes. Then when...

Marc Ayers--
Cutting down to the point, I'll skip the journey I took before coming to Hope. I've been at Hope for almost 2 years now, and I love it. I feel at home here, and I get so much out of the sermons on Sunday. I am 21 years old and struggling to find my place in this world. School is boring and repetitive. Work is just the same.

Last Sunday talked about leaving a legacy. Say I get a job for 20 some years and die. My money may be left and some belongings to pass along to family, that's it. Say I wanna get a Ph.D, and when I get it, I die in some freak accident accomplishing nothing with my life. I have been praying to God about where my life is heading because I am so frustrated with life. I trust God and I know he has a plan for my life. Lately, I have had this feeling about helping others. Especially after "the least of these" series--one of the most important and heart felt messages I have ever heard or felt.

I imagine if God were here on Earth what he would do. I dont think he would be in America long. I know he would be with the least of these. He would be in Africa helping war torn citizens out of war and famine and disease. I have the strongest urge to go to Africa and help in any way I can. I joined a book group with Robert Lackie pertaining to crisis in Africa and am joining HIA [Hope in Action]. I feel this as a real calling and am dead set on going to Africa, mainly Mathare Valley and helping, being with the least of these. It seems as if so many have forgotten these people or are ashamed that they exist and don't wanna help them.

I think that this story will be lots more interesting in a year when I actually go, haha but I just want to tell everyone a little story on how much the least of these series is changing my life.

    Food for the Journey

Hope is a place for people willing to embark on a spiritual journey, from those just investigating whether there is a God, to those who have made following Christ the priority of their life.  This is a safe place for everyone.  But safe doesn’t mean serenity.  The Bible presents a dangerous message of life change.  We don’t assume everyone believes, or even knows the Bible, but we do assume everyone who comes through our doors is open to exploring it. We believe the Bible is God’s inerrant truth and it is foundational to everything we do.
