Blake Carter, Senior Pastor of Hope, was raised in a pastor's family, and as such, has a deep love for the church. Transplanted from California with his Californian wife, Heather, they moved to Springfield in 1994 so Blake could attend Lincoln Christian Seminary (he graduated in 1996 with a M.A. in Philosophy and Theology). After being introduced to Hope by a friend and fellow LCS student, Blake and Heather quickly fell in love with this very special church. Soon after they started attending, the pastor at that time, Bill Shereos, asked if Blake would be interested in doing an internship while in school and he agreed. One year later, he came on staff as an Associate Pastor to start what is now the small groups ministry. In 1999, Bill moved to Chicago and the congregation decided to call Blake to become the next Senior Pastor of Hope. He humbly accepted and from there it has been quite a ride, with the congregation nearly tripling, the decision to change locations, the planning and construction of a new facility, and an expansion of the Harvestland (kids ministry) wing at the current church location.

Blake and Heather have 3 children Berkeley, Bennett, and Emma. They are all so excited about the future of Hope they can hardly stand it.
